Rewari is a city and a municipal council in Rewari district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is located about 82 km from country capital Delhi. Its geographical coordinates are 28.11 North and 76.37 East and is at an elevation of 241.95 meters.
Legendary tales say that during the time of Mahabharata, King Rewat had a daughter named Rewati. The king would address her as Rewa, and founded a city "Rewa Wadi" named after her (Wadi means neighborhood). She was married to Balram, the elder brother of Lord Krishna. The king gifted the city to his daughter in her wedding. As time passed by Rewa-Wadi became Rewari.
