Bhongir

Bhongir is a rustic town located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located in the Telangana region, in the Nalconda District. Tourists from everywhere flock to Bhongir mainly to visit the famous Bhongir fort, which was constructed during the Kakatiya Empire.

Located around forty eight kilometers (48 km) from the city of Hyderabad, Bhongir was a stronghold of the Chalukyas, and this gives the town of Bhongir the importance that it evokes among lovers of history.

You can visit the town of Bhongir in order to visit the ancient Bhongir fort that has many patrons, due to its sheer withstanding capabilities as time has hardly weathered this historical fort. The Bhongir fort is located on top of a monolithic rock structure, which has a height of around five hundred feet (500 ft). Constructed by the ruler Tri Bhuvana Malla Vikram Aditya VI, the Bhongir fort is a vast structure that has many underground chambers and a large moat surrounding the entire fort. The Bhongir fort also has many trap doors and ponds, stables and wells, and this is one of the main reasons why tourists flock to see this once impregnable fortress.

You can also visit the Hanuman Temple that is located on top of the hill and a temple dedicated to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy which is located at a distance of thirteen kilometers from Bhongir.
